How much do I love my sister?
I am thinking about taking Heather to see Linkin' Park for her birthday present. Which doesn't even involve that much sacrifice on my part! I actually kind of like most of Linkin' Park's old singles, back from when I was in high school. I especially liked their IN THE END IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER song, which was the soundtrack to my final exams in 2002.

EXCEPT. They are performing with My Chemical Romance. And, look. I am sure they are very good if you like that kind of Fall Out Romance At the Disco type of music that all the kids are listening to right now. But I am not a fan. I do think their costumes are totally cute, and I do not dislike "Helena." But I know I will HATE them if I have to listen to them play for an hour.

And, I mean, there is the matter of the crowd. And the heat. It's in an outdoor arena in the middle of August, so it will be sweltering, and we will probably be surrounded by sweaty teenaged boys. And hopefully we will skip most of the other bands, but there'll also be HIM and Placebo and all of these other probably shitty alterna-rock bands that I have never heard of before in my life. Oh, and also Taking Back Sunday. (See, this is why I believe in karma.)

Teenagers. Bad music. Sweat. Dehydration. This is basically my idea of the seventh level of hell. So I have sort of talked myself out of it. But it would be such an awesome birthday present!

Hey, at least you considered it, right?

Awww, I think you should do it. She's your sister.

Of course, I'm an only child, so I don't really get this sibling-connection thing. =)

I feel like Placebo might be pretty fun in a totally over-the-top way in concert. But...fully supportive of avoiding MCR.

am sure they are very good if you like that kind of Fall Out Romance At the Disco type of music that all the kids are listening to right now.

There is really no difference between Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco. I don't understand why people haven't realized they are the same band yet.

Okay. No. I love Panic! and am totally ambivalent toward FoB. Panic! is so much more. . . polished? The singers do have a similar voice, but the lyrics in Panic! are actually good and I love the cello (and other instruments) they throw in there.

Though MCR is just amusing for their emo factor. My brother memorised "Black Parade" and goes up to emos and sings it, and ends up hitting anyone who joins in. While I am outwardly opposed to this behaviour, I'm actually quite amused.

I have no input to make because I only know the ubiquitous "Sugar We're Going Down Swinging" song and nothing by PATD.

However, every time I see Pete Wentz, I feel molested. Because of that whole thing with his penis. I mean, it's not like I googled Pete Wentz's Penis either! They were in the comments of an innocuous post on my f'list! *shudder*

Ha! I hadn't even considered that!

And now that I am thinking about it, I'm not sure. Heather's friends are not big music fans. (Neither is she; this would be the first concert she attended where she actually wants to see the band. She doesn't like very many bands or artists; she just listens to singles and soundtracks and electronic/techno, mostly.)

Plus most of her friends are big country fans. I guess if I were to do this, I'd have to ask her first and be prepared for the eventuality that she'll want me to go with her. Technically, I owe her. I am always dragging her to stuff my friends don't want to see with me.

Well good luck with that.

I once went to an n'sync concert for a friend.
