Monday Miscellany
Chuck was so completely A+ tonight that I don't even know what to say about it, aside from complimenting its awesomeness. On a shallow note, Adam Baldwin looked really, really fantastic.

And wow, the voice post meme has gone positively viral! I counted at least fifteen on a quick scroll-through, so I haven't even had a chance to listen to all of them yet! But it's been really nifty to hear everybody's voices. As far as my voice post goes, I am pretty surprised that most people seem to think I have a bit of a southern accent, because mostly I just think I sound like a preppy schoolgirl. As evidenced by the rampant disbelief, it definitely doesn't fit my personality, so I am hoping I will grow out of it soon, yeesh.

And then stepliana posted a poll about that old "Miss Suzie had a steamboat..." rhyme. And while I did know that rhyme, I finally remembered that we did a similar one to the same tune, much more often:

Miss Suzie had a baby
His name was Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub
But it wouldn't go down his throat
Miss Suzie called the doctor
Miss Suzie called the nurse
Miss Suzie called the lady with the alligator purse

So I guess maybe that's why I was so sure it was "alligator bra." But it's entirely possible that our seven year-old selves didn't understand 40 acre or 80 meter bra and just changed it to alligator, too. They sound vaguely similar. 40 acre, alligator... It could happen!

	Heh - I actually just unlocked the post so a friend who doesn't have an LJ could see the poll, if you want to link to it? People outside my flist answering will help increase the sample, or something :D (Reply to this)(Thread)

	That's great, because it's a really interesting poll. I had a similar(ish) one once, because where I lived in FL, we always always always said "Paper Scissors Rock" and then I came here and got to college and everybody was like, nooooo, it is "Rock Paper Scissors." 	What!! It's always been Rock Paper Scissors for me. (Also, at some point in my life there was a variation on the lady with the alligator purse, being the lady with 'pizza in her purse'. I just remembered that.) (Reply to this)(Parent)

We had a bit more to that one:

Mumps said the doctor
Mumps said the nurse
Pizza said the lady with the alligator purse

Measles said the doctor
Measles said the nurse
Spaghetti said the lady with the alligator purse

And then I think there was one more after that. There's another one I was thinking about the other day, but I couldn't remember all of it.

With silver buttons buttons buttons
All down her back back back

And then I can't remember but there's something about an elephant and going high and touching the sky.

	The verse you are forgetting on the first one- Out went the doctor Out went the nurse Out went the lady with the baby in her purse! (by the way, when I learned it, it was all consolidated, so it was Mumps said the doctor Measeles said the nurse Pizza said the lady with the alligator purse and then the verse about them leaving) (Reply to this)(Parent)

	When I graduated from nursery school we did a play of that rhyme, and I was the doctor, my crush (stalkee, crush, same thing) was the nurse, and my bff was the lady with the alligator purse. It was awesome. (Reply to this)
