Post of TV
Hannah Montana

I love Dolly Parton to death. She is a completely awesome lady! I always love the story about how she told off Whitney Houston after Houston snidely informed her that "I Will Always Love You" had for all intents and purposes become her song. And Dolly was all like, "I know! I think it's great! I am making tons and tons of money! I have a lot of other songs I'd love for you to look at!" DOLLY FUCKING PARTON, ladies and gentlemen! The scene where she feeds Robbie Ray the positions of his mother's battleships was my favorite!

Also, why do all of the boys on this show have the same. exact. haircut?

Ugly Betty

It was really nice to have a light episode after all the heavy stuff in the past three or four. And it was really funny! The paintball fight to settle who would be the new CEO of Meade Publications was completely absurd, but who cares because it was also COMPLETELY HILARIOUS, what with all those parodies of cliche action-movie sequences! It was obvious that Alexis was going to shoot Daniel to prove she had the killer instinct their dad was looking for, but it was still great. And Betty trying to eat ice cream off of Henry's stomach had me and my sister nearly in tears. Loved Amanda hooking up with Deputy Leo! That has been a long time coming.

Whoever wrote this episode was also hilariously in tune with Internet subculture. Obviously, there was the hilarious crack about Real Person Slash, but the remixed video of Wilhemina maiming Betty White made me laaaaaugh and laugh and laugh.

And I love Gio! I like Henry and everything, but I am increasingly eager for him to get lost so we can just move on already. (Here's hoping that seventeen weeks doesn't equal the rest of the season.) I just really enjoy Gio and Betty's rapport. I like that they push each other *and* that they push each other's buttons. Hilda telling him that she knew she wasn't the Suarez sister he was interested in was excellent, and I am all about it. Bring on the Gio/Betty!

Avatar

So last week Nickelodeon achieved new heights in EPIC FAIL for turning two episodes of Avatar into a "movie" instead of billing them as actual episodes of the show. Because my TiVo? TOTALLY DID NOT TAPE THEM. You suck, Nickelodeon!

I sort of spoiled myself a little bit a couple of weeks ago via my friends list, so I knew the invasion would fail. I did not realize it would fail so spectacularly. Aang and his friends having to leave behind all the parents choked me up a little. Still, I am glad because I'd really like to see that "secret river" and the Fire Nation's river spirit owing Katara a favor come into play during the final battle, whenever that may be.

Azula is like the Mary Sue of super villains. How the hell is she nimbler than an airbending master? Why is she always so perfect and annoying? All this time, I'd been thinking that Ozai would be the Big Bad, but it is totally Azula -- she is ten times scarier! Yes, Azula, Aang will be back TO KILL YOU, and then I will throw a fucking party.

I am nervous about Zuko's change of heart (took him long enough!), but he basically realized everything I wanted him to realize. It's just... the thought of Zuko joining Aang & Co. does not exactly thrill me. It seems really cheesy, but I trust that the show will make it hilarious; Zuko might have turned his back on the Fire Nation, but he is still a petulant, spoiled brat. Still, I'm hoping that he'll take off on his own to find his mother ASAP.

And how great was Toph! Sokka's appreciation of her was hilarious and awesome. But Aang giving Toph and Sokka a ride on his glider over a river of molten rock? Epically stupid, even for a cartoon.

Private Practice

This show continues to bore me to practically tears, and I predict that I will not be watching it much longer. Which makes me really sad because I LOVED ADDISON. The only thing I'm even vaguely interested in is David Sutcliffe, and that will obviously be fleeting.

Young and the Restless

I don't think I've ever sat through an hour of television that distressed me more. It is completely horrible to watch Jack pay and pay and pay and pay for every single wrong thing he has ever done when OTHER PEOPLE literally get away with murder. Gloria has no shame and no sense of decency. She carries on like she is fucking Joan of Arc! She should either go down for her crimes or GO DIE IN A FIRE. Either one works for me!

What burns the most is that she has possibly destroyed the power couple thing Jack and Sharon have had going on. And I am REALLY NERVOUS about next week. Sharon moving in with Victor while she's upset with Jack and while Victor is upset about the investigation and Victoria and Nikki cannot be good. I am fearful of Sharon/Victor. GROSS, I KNOW. But they have kissed before, and we all know how much Y&R loves to make Jack pay.

I am also fearful of Sharon/Brad. I do not want to live in a world where leaving Jack for Brad Carlton is trading up. As if Brad Carlton is any less manipulative than Jack Abbott. WHATEVER, Y&R.

I am in the middle of the second Gossip Girl book! I will probably talk more about this some other time, but I gotta say that Nate Archibald is even lamer in the books than he is on the show. I know, I can't believe it either. (In the books' defense, they openly acknowledge his lameness.) Chuck is also TEN BILLION TIMES grosser.

P.S. OH MY GOD, WHY ARE THE STRIKE NEGOTIATIONS COLLAPSED?! D:

I picked up Gossip Girl books five and six from the library today and am excited to get back into reading that trash.

I need the remix Ugly Betty video to be my new ringtone. Betty White FTW. And I love Gio, too.

Gloria has no shame and no sense of decency. She carries on like she is fucking Joan of Arc!

THAT BITCH CAN DIE IN A FUCKING FIRE. I will never, ever understand why Lynn Marie Latham is making this woman the heroine of the show. Actually, no I can - General Hospital has mobsters as the moral center of their show, so LML probably thinks anything GH can do, Y&R can do better. I actually can't watch the show anymore because I HATE GLORIA SO FUCKING MUCH.

But they have kissed before

Whyyyyyyyyyy must you remind me of that heinousness. That storyline was just Bad News Bears, so it makes sense that Y&R is looking to resurrect it.

Also, what's the deal with Brad and JT's blood. I read something about that on Serial Drama and it sounds suspiciously like LML might be gearing up to make Brad JT's dad?

I picked up the first three at a used bookstore. The cashier totally judged me, I am pretty sure.

Good decision! She has been unbearably awful, and now it looks like she will even get a ton of John's money. Her ex-husbands twin brother (HA HA HA, I can't believe the lame things this show makes me type) actually knows she sabotaged the moisturizer, but I am not holding my breath. She always weasels out of it somehow. She is lucky she has such resourceful sons.

Basically Brad and JT asked for information pertaining to the baby's blood type, but the blood type ended up being inconclusive, so we still don't know, and I can't tell who it will turn out to be. It could go either way. That hasn't stopped Brad from acting like he is the father. He calls the baby "Arthur" after his father, and he actually took the Newmans to court to defend his "fetal rights" and stop the baby from being delivered so prematurely. But, yeah, it is probably Brad's. Or it will turn out not to be Brad's, and he will deflate and go crying to Sharon, and they will sleep together TO MAKE JACK PAY.

Oh Gossip Girl, I continue to love that trash. And will probably love the TV show once I start downloading the episodes *sends hate to Australian TV networks*

I'm totally not judging, but HANNAH MONTANA?!

I have a ten year old sister, so I am generally pretty up on the kiddie shows. And I gotta say that Hannah Montana is one of the good ones!

Anyway, yes, you will totally love the show. It's pretty different from the books, but it is also GREATNESS.

I'll always love Dolly Parton because of Steel Magnolias <3

I happened to catch that Ugly Betty episode and, for some reason, I got got all excited about that ref! Yes, RPS!

I'm kinda upset at Private Practice. I pretty much gave up on it a few weeks ago, but it sucks because Addison was one of my favorite characters. It just doesn't feel like her on the show though. I kinda hope she'll come back to Grey's.

I wanted to read Gossip Girl a long time ago, but I kept forgetting to get them. Plus I couldn't remember if they were YA or adult books.

I totally agree. I mean, I do not think I would watch Grey's even if she did return, but she definitely does not feel like Addison anymore. It is all so tragic!

The Gossip Girl is definitely YA. I would never let my teenagers read them, though. Not until they were old enough to understand how RIDICULOUS the books are.

Wtf?
I started reading them at about 14, which is only 1 year into the teens... doesn't mean I didn't realize it was something to read for fun. I'm sad you'd think your teens would be so dumb as to need your censoring :(

I didn't intend to insult you or anyone else, but the Gossip Girls actually say for "15 and up" on the back, and I would not allow my teenaged daughter to read them until I was absolutely sure she was old/mature/secure enough to understood that the things the book glamorizes and commidifies are totally ridiculous. I'm glad that you realized that at such a young age, but I don't think most fourteen year old girls would be able to read these books without them making an unfortunate impression. I just don't think most teenaged girls are ready to read such negative depictions of sexuality and drugs and boys and body image without the source material making an imprint, and GG is definitely not anything I'd want to influence my daughter in any way whatsoever.

mm, sorry, wasn't really insulted. I just have a bit of an issue with treating "kids" as less intelligent/able to think than they are.. nothing against you in particular, just in general. (and I have something against the idea of keeping someone from the amusement that gossip girl is ;) hehe, yay pointless but amusing drama!)

Hahaha, I love Private Practice. It is GOOD TIMES.

I think UB is consistently showing that Henry is NOT GOOD for Betty. I mean, yes, he is sweet and cute and CUT and everything, but...he wants to sit around and watch movies. Which, as we all know, there is not exactly anything wrong with. But she keeps settling with Henry, and that is a problem. Gio always pushes Betty out of her comfort zone and makes her think about things in a different way, while still encouraging her to be who she is. So, you know. I am ready for Henry to go, too.

Well, I am glad that you are enjoying it. That means I can keep just keep up with whatever is going on via my f'list.

Totally concur with your excellent thoughts on Ugly Betty!

What she said about both Private Practice and Ugly Betty, except that I do not think that Henry is cute OR cut -- I was wincing at those shirtless bits, because he is so SKINNY. I mean, someone needs to fatten that boy up a little!

But he is a skinny boy with definition! And his head is smaller than the rest of his body when his shirt is off. It's very distracting.

It was nice that he was jealous of Gio, though. I know Betty doesn't think she's much, but it is nice to see boys wanting her.

I agree with both you and Jasmine. I mean, yes, he has nice muscle definition, but his proportions kind of freak me out. His shoulders are so broad and his waist is so tiny!

Ugly Betty was just wonderful this week.

Gloria has no shame and no sense of decency. She carries on like she is fucking Joan of Arc! She should either go down for her crimes or GO DIE IN A FIRE. Either one works for me!
I really don't like her. I wasn't watching when the cream scandal actually happened, but I am so tired of hearing about it now. She can go anytime now.

What burns the most is that she has possibly destroyed the power couple thing Jack and Sharon have had going on.
I thought it was weird at first, but I really like them together. I like Sharon/Jack and Phylis/Nick. I don't want that messed up.

I am fearful of Sharon/Victor. GROSS, I KNOW. But they have kissed before, and we all know how much Y&R loves to make Jack pay.
I had forgotten about that kiss until recently. Victor/Sharon will never make any sense. The show had better not go there.

I am also fearful of Sharon/Brad.
I've never hated Brad as much as I do now. I would have been okay with Brad/Sharon months and months ago. Two characters I dislike together? That's fine. Now, it's just wrong.

I do not want to live in a world where leaving Jack for Brad Carlton is trading up.
Thank you!! Brad has turned into such a bastard.

I so agree with you about Private Practice. I've been watching it, hoping that it'll get better, but it hasn't. I wish Addison would go back to Seattle Grace :( I'm so disappointed, because I was so excited about Private Practice and Addison getting her own show and all.
