Top Five Favorite Canon Pairings In Television for [info]wottie

  1. Robin and Starfire (Teen Titans) Starfire was so great for Robin, and the show worked up to them in a way that was completely satisfying.
  2. Pacey and Joey (Dawson's Creek) To this day, I remain SHOCKED that the show actually let them end up together.
  3. Christy and Doc MacNeill (Christy) AND THE JOY OF THE CHILDREN WAS IN HIS EYES. Okay, so that is from the book, but I loved them on the TV show first! And I do not even care that it involves atheists being converted to Christianity!
  4. Meg and Sam (American Dreams) Their chemistry surprised and intrigued the producers, who wanted to explore the relationship but felt that it wouldn't be true to the time period. I think they did it really well, with the liberal atmosphere at college being the catalyst. And I *loved* that they mutually decided to stay friends because it was just too hard to be a couple; trying to be together would have ruined their relationship before they even really had a change to make it work. BUT STILL. They had so much in common, and they liked each other so much! Boo, racism!
  5. Coach and Mrs. Coach (FNL) Best written married couple currently on television!

Disclaimer: This is impossible impossible IMPOSSIBLE. I purposely omitted the fic of anyone I know personally, and these are just a couple of easily-found, longtime favorites off the top of my head. And they are all pretty porny, sorry. In no particular order:
  1. The Wall by [info]theohara, which is a really brilliant Grissom fic that spans yeeears of his life, and pairs him with both Catherine and Sara.
  2. Gavotte [info]subduction is Elizabeth fic, and it's a very good and very sultry prequel to the POTC movies. It's mostly about Elizabeth's desires, her restlessness, and her relationships with Will and especially Norrington.
  3. The Comeback: The Vanity Fair Profile by [info]yahtzee63, which is post-S1 gen about Aaron Echolls getting away with murder. Which... happened, but much less awesomely. Don't you hate it when your favorite fics get Jossed?
  4. Flying Lessons by Teresa Kay is an ancient favorite that has a special place in my heart. It is an unabashedly shippy Chloe/Clark fic.
  5. I really like His Terrible Swift Sword by [info]yahtzee63. It is an X-Men novella with a solid plot and complex interactions between all of the characters. Romantically speaking, there's Logan/Rogue, Magneto/Xavier, and unrequited Bobby/John.

  1. Brendan Frye and Veronica Mars Best. Crossover. Ever. And it's aaaall thanks to [info]themis!
  2. Chuck Bartowski and Veronica Mars He lives in L.A.! He already has the NSA and CIA and DEA after his brain! VERONICA IS IN THE FBI. IN L.A. It is like a no brainer, you guys!

I knooooow. When are writers going to learn that you can make a relationship 'tempting' and 'chemistry-fuelled' or you can make it 'epic meant-to-be total star-crossedness', but you cannot ever try to do both? It just gets painful.

[info]grave_watchers! I really hated that community and all of the major players involved. Just because it was so intentionally MEAN and petty, and then they were so disingenuous about all of the drama it caused, like the name itself wasn't a total slap in the face to all of the people associated with Cloud Watchers, who worked really hard to try and raise awareness about the show.

So, yeah, I am obviously not quite over that particular wank yet, I am sry2say. Ever so often, I'll have a fannish encounter with people I specifically associate with the community, and I am STILL grossed out about it. MY GOOD OPINION ONCE LOST IS LOST FOREVER. Or something.

I used to ship Duncan/Veronica and Logan/Veronica in season one. Then, in season two, Rob Thomas somehow managed to mangle both of those :( Don't get me wrong, I liked season two (though not as much as the first season) just not the way the ships were handled.

I will admit, though, that I'm still kind of a closet Duncan/Veronica shipper. I think seasons 2 and 3 + the crazy, crazy Logan/Veronica fans ruined that ship for me permanently, though.

Logan Huntzberger/Gossip Girl characters. I know I kind of hated on Logan a lot, but I am sure he is well-known on the fictional UES, and someone really needs to write this fic.

He and Serena could have a crazy fling in the Hamptons, and she'll pretend to be a lot older than she actually is! OMG, IT WAS THE ARCHIBALD YACHT THAT HE AND RORY STOLE. Oops, I probably should have put that in the meme! They're from a fun family show that used to air on NBC called American Dreams. Meg was white, and her father owned a couple of appliance stores. Sam was the son of the manager of one of his stores, and he was black. And it was the 1960s, so.

WHY do actors insist on starting bands?! This really frustrates me! It's not like they are Sinatra or Doris Day or something. We don't even make musicals into movies anymore - or if we do, they get panned. SIGH. I think I take this too personally.

This made me laugh XD Not the canceling part, which I am surprised to read about here, since I just saw this week's cover of New York Magazine, which features the cast of Gossip Girl and calls it the "Best. Show. Ever." I thought of you :D

Oh, yeah. I was all over that cover story! It was excellent! But sadly, Gossip Girl's ratings continue to suck, even with the CW promoting it non-stop, even with all of the publicity in the tabloids, even being one of the top five most buzzed about shows on the Internet. It is very depressing, since I would obviously prefer that it run for seven seasons of awesome ridiculousness.
