Blair's dad is Lex Luthor? PERFECT.
Two more fabulous episodes from my two favorite new shows! Josh Schwartz basically owns me this season.

Gossip Girl - Blair Waldorf Must Pie! )

So it turns out Jack's trick with the overturned boat was all SMOKE, MIRRORZ AND LIEZ. Even with 500 pounds of extra weight strapped to the boat to hold it down, two men *still* couldn't hold a boat filled with air under the water. But like Candice says, maybe the laws of physics don't apply to Cap'n Jack Sparrow.

YES, PLEASE.
Fannish overlap just doesn't get any better than this! )

Seriously, Veronica/Chuck? GENIUS. Especially since we know she ends up at the FBI headquarters in L.A.! Chuck's already got the NSA, CIA and DEA using him for his brain; it's only a matter of time until the FBI decides they need him, too. Somebody should get on that fic post-haste, please and thanks!

Monday Miscellany
Chuck was so completely A+ tonight that I don't even know what to say about it, aside from complimenting its awesomeness. On a shallow note, Adam Baldwin looked really, really fantastic.

And wow, the voice post meme has gone positively viral! I counted at least fifteen on a quick scroll-through, so I haven't even had a chance to listen to all of them yet! But it's been really nifty to hear everybody's voices. As far as my voice post goes, I am pretty surprised that most people seem to think I have a bit of a southern accent, because mostly I just think I sound like a preppy schoolgirl. As evidenced by the rampant disbelief, it definitely doesn't fit my personality, so I am hoping I will grow out of it soon, yeesh.

And then [info]stepliana posted a poll about that old "Miss Suzie had a steamboat..." rhyme. And while I did know that rhyme, I finally remembered that we did a similar one to the same tune, much more often:

Miss Suzie had a baby
His name was Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub
But it wouldn't go down his throat
Miss Suzie called the doctor
Miss Suzie called the nurse
Miss Suzie called the lady with the alligator purse

So I guess maybe that's why I was so sure it was "alligator bra." But it's entirely possible that our seven year-old selves didn't understand 40 acre or 80 meter bra and just changed it to alligator, too. They sound vaguely similar. 40 acre, alligator... It could happen!

A gigantic post of TV on day where no one is around to read it, go me!

Y&R )

Chuck versus The O.C. )

So the writers are set to walk out this Monday. The last writer's strike (in 1988) lasted five months. Immediately, stuff like The Daily Show will be affected. Three-to-four weeks and there will be no more Y&R (good!), and then in January, there will be no more new TV! So let's hope that the networks and studios decide to properly compensate their writers in the VERY near future, because I will be completely devastated if there is no new TV come spring.

In the meantime, I will be thinking of shows to watch and catch up on during the possibly longer-than-normal hiatus. I am thinking Life, Samantha Who?, Mad Men and possibly Damages. I still need to watch S2 of The Closer. I might retry Dexter. Any other suggestions? Maybe we could start like a TV club or something, if the strike seems like it will go one for a super long time.
