( Footloose in the Fire Nation )
1. Ugly Betty was quality. Even though parts of it were a teensy bit OTT sappy for black-hearted bitchez like myself, it was a great season-opener with an awesome fake-out.
2. Big Shots was not nearly as offensive as I anticipated. I did not completely hate it, and I expected to. Um,
bactaqueen, did you watch this? If you didn't, YOU'RE FIRED. The things I do for you!
3. Dirty Sexy Money was so-so. I will probably end up watching it, just because I plan on being parked in front of the TV on Wednesday nights. Wednesday is the new Tuesday, AFAIAC. Hopefully the production break they took means that it will get better.
4. Moonlight = awful. But I won't be surprised if it does all right for itself after Ghost Whisperer.
5. I did not watch Grey's Anatomy, but I did read everybody's comments. And I would just like to say FTR that, ha, I was so right about Mark.
6. I completely and totally agree with Alan Sepinwall's criticism of Private Practice:

But there still be plenty of problems here, mostly centering around all these borderline middle-aged characters acting -- as all Shonda characters do -- like they're still in high school. The fascination over Pete having kissed Addision, Sam seeing Addison naked, the giggling over the geezer giving the sperm sample... I could just barely tolerate that coming from George and Izzie (season one and two versions), but what's the point of doing a show with more mature actors if you're going to write them the same way you do your twentysomethings?Seriously! How spot-on is that? In fact, probably the appeal of characters like Addison and Burke (S1 and S2) and Bailey has a lot to do with how they generally act their age in a world where most of the characters seem to perpetually act their shoe size. And since PrP is supposed to be a show about middle-aged people, it *is* really bizarre for all of them to be acting so immaturely. And next week doesn't seem to bode well, either, what with everyone seeming to be so fascinated/concerned over a patient who happens to be a stripper? Whatevs, PrP.

KATE WALSH'S SUPER NINJA POWERS
Oh, man. Have you guys seen the Grey's Anatomy S3 Blooper Reel? It is pretty awesome! My favorite bit is T.R. Knight telling Katie Heigl that she's a bad kisser.
And during the Cast's Favorite Scenes extra, there's a three second clip at 9:03 of Kate Walsh busting out some seriously whack ninja moves. It is especially hilarious because everyone else, including Eric Dane, is completely ignoring her.
There is also a painful deleted scene where Izzie says to George: "[Callie]'s a bit of a martyr, isn't she?" or something like that. I mean, really! NO SELF-AWARENESS WHATSOEVER.

WHAT THE FRAK IS WRONG WITH ISAIAH WASHINGTON?!
Two weeks ago, TV Guide reported that Isaiah Washington was considering a lawsuit against ABC.
Last week, Isaiah Washington gave a good and completely non-crazy interview to Entertainment Weekly. He said, among other things, that "he didn't know anything" about a lawsuit.
Yesterday, the Houston Chronicle published an interview and posted audio in which Isaiah claims that T.R. Knight is responsible for the tension on set. He denies directing a homophobic slur at TRK and accuses TRK of exploiting the controversy to get a salary hike. He also says that TRK is the one who should have been fired. He says that he is absolutely considering a lawsuit.
Then he compares himself to Malcom X and Paul Robeson in an interview with SFGate.
And then he gives Keith Boykin the TRUFAX EXCLUSIVE! Apparently TRK is one helluva Machiavellian motherfucker.
I can only conclude that Isaiah is suffering from either a.) a split personality disorder or b.) being full of shit.

And, and, and! Last weekend I finished watching S2 of Grey's, which I got for my birthday almost exactly two months ago. There were actually episodes I somehow managed to miss! Crazy. I had stuff I wanted to say about the season in general, but I have mostly forgotten everything, except:
( Four extremely shallow things about S2 Grey's Anatomy )
In real-life non-news, I am sunburnt from gardening. On the bright side, come next month I will have LOTS of tomatoes and cucumbers. Unfortunately, come next week I am going to have the worst farmer's tan ever.

ADDISON'S ANATOMY!
I was exhausted Thursday night, and then there was SO MUCH Addison that I was completely overwhelmed. I'm used to five minutes a week, if I'm lucky. More than an hour of Addison was just too much freakin' awesome for me to absorb in one sitting. But now that I've watched Addison's Anatomy all the way through again, I have lots of opinions about it!
But first. To all of the Grey's fans bitching about how there was way too much Addison's Anatomy and far too little Grey's: WELCOME TO FIFTY OF THE LAST THURSDAYS AND SUNDAYS OF MY LIFE, PEOPLE:

( Addison and Addison's Anatomy )

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Tonight my Grey's commentary is basically just ( happy dancing! )
Re: Smallville. Even though I FFed through all of the Lana/Clark stuff, just seeing it flash by made me want to throw things. I think I may hate them more than I've ever hated any pairing, ever. And that is A LOT of hate.
ETA: Whoa, FOX cancelled Drive already,
boosette. Four episodes in! It is CRAZY out there for a TV fan! (I am a little cross I lost the pool. I said eight episodes.)

BOB DYLAN ON BSG
BSG and I are getting a divorce. It jumped the proverbial shark tonight. I'm not interested in being in a constant state of WTF; I don't think it's fun, and it's certainly not good TV. ( teeny, tiny spoiler )
I mean, seriously. If I wanted to WTF at nonsense, I would be watching Lost.
thermopylae_h wrote the most awesome rant about how 300 is racist, sexist, and basically completely ridiculous. I have not seen it, but I was glad to read it considering how much I've despised all of Frank Miller's other comics-turned-movies.
ETA: This EW article about what's up with Grey's Anatomy really struck a chord for me. The author thinks the problem is an overabundance of characters (ITA), and he calls Izzie "the new Meredith." (Although, I think that George has had a comparable amount of screentime this season.) I also agree with what he said about Alex.

TV
Will someone please give T.R. Knight an Emmy nomination? I do not like the George/Izzie stuff, but he is making me believe it, AGAINST MY WILL. (I'll have you know that my will is well nigh unbreakable.) Between last night and the work he's done with the story line about his dad dying, he deserves a nod at least.
And if the GA writers really want to launch a successful Addie spinoff, it kind of makes sense to actually give her some freaking screentime. Or at least what we were promised in the promos! BOO.
I only just got a chance to power through Friday Night Lights, but Tyra's mom taking her to the Father-Daughter dance was possibly the greatest thing I have ever seen on television. I am about to cry just thinking about it.

"Television watchers without pity: We get it." - Grey MatterUGH. Don't these people realize that TWoP would be such a better, happier place if all of the posters didn't know that television people are paying attention to them? They are on the ultimate power trip, and it makes things so much less fun.

LAME-OFF!
I KNOW THIS IS A RIDICULOUSLY DIFFICULT POLL. It is maybe even the most ridiculousliest difficultest poll EVER.

After Logan's dad gets shot and Veronica's dad goes boom (OR DOES HE?!?), Logan and Veronica get their religious imagery on.

McDreamy rescues Meredith from the freezing waters of Puget Sound, which she inexplicably decided to die in.
(AND HE DOES ALL THIS IN SOFT FOCUS, OF COURSE!)

Also, I am taking bets on what life-threatening situation Meredith will be involved in next February sweeps.

I missed Ugly Betty. Speaking of which, there was a disturbing blind item over on TV Guide about UB today. We know it's about UB because Ausiello accidentally tagged it as an Ugly Betty item, ha.

ANGSTCAKES
( Ugly Betty )
This is non-specific to tonight's GA episode. I gotta say that the conjecture that you'll be a terrible parent if you don't like kids is nonsense. Honestly, I do not like kids at all. I have no special affinity for them whatsoever. But there is a HUGE difference between "kids" and your own kids (or kids you're close to -- my littlest sister being born when I was fourteen, for example). It's just a totally different. It's hard to explain, but I swear it's the truth.
( Grey's Anatomy )
The angst in our house is THICK. Kelly was accepted to Brenau University today. She received a $34,000 academic grant, but even with that and the money she'll get from HOPE, tuition is still $5,000 a year. And my parents say they can't afford to pay that. Therefore, ANGST. She still has a portfolio review for an art scholarship, and she might be able to get another break if they have a work-study program. So I think she can do it. But still. ANGST.
Not to mention that she committed the ultimate act of rebellion and did not apply to UGA. To say that my dad is furious does not even begin to cover it. ANGST.

Ish.
( More Isaiah Washington fallout )
Oh yeah! I meant to say that I loved Meryl Streep's acceptance speech last night!
I'm taking the speech to heart because I bitch and whine about not being able to see this or that all of the time. My white, white, white GA county's theatre didn't even bother to play Dreamgirls for a single week! But usually I'm complaining about not getting stuff like Perfume or Match Point, etc. But never even once have I thought to complain.
OH YEAH! And Barack Obama officially formed a presidential exploratory committee (or something), and he has a nice video up on his site about why he's running for president. Pretty presidential stuff, no? I'd vote for him.

And finally I just wanna say, the reason you could see The Devil Wears Prada is because it was playing on every theatre screen across America -- and that was because they were playing it. And if you can't see Little Children or Pan's Labyrinth or The Queen or all these great movies that I've just seen -- Volver, Notes on a Scandal, Sherrybaby -- then you have to go down to your theater manager and ask him why! 'Cause its amazing how much you can get if you [in Miranda Priestly's voice] quietly, clearly and authoritatively demand it!
