OMFG NIGHT
Tonight was just a series of television tragedies. Arranged to watch the finales of House and Gossip Girl with one of my sisters, but by the time we'd finished dinner and sat down to watch the episode, it was just past 9:00. And it turns out that for the first time in the history of ever, my cable cut out and my TiVo only caught about 32 minutes of Gossip Girl. ANY OTHER SHOW, YOU GUYS. Any other episode, for that matter! So we watched until the wedding, and then the cable helpfully resurrected itself just in time for the TiVo to catch the last minute and a half, ensuring that I was totally and completely confused. So now I am sitting here waiting for the torrent to download at a hilarious 2.5 kB/s.

And then I watched House. )

And then I watched Wildfire. )

OH, TELEVISION. Gossip Girl is now at 0 kb/s, awesome. I think I'll just go to bed and watch it tomorrow.

Maybe it's because tonight is a full moon. Did you guys look outside? The moon is INSANE where I am. It's not that big, but it's possibly the brightest I've ever seen it. Have a look.

Wildfire
Wildfire broke some cardinal rules of TV According To Caitlin last night. Bad Show! )

On a more cheerful fannish front... whoo! They are going to make a fourth Bourne movie! I was excited when I heard the news, but I am also a little nervous. As much as I'd like to see more, the third movie ended so perfectly! This is one of the catch twenty-twos of being a fan!

P.S. There seems to be a lot of sickness going around the f'list. I hope everyone feels better soon!

WTFery
+ All of the awesome casting and the very awesomeness of the mere existence of Addison's Anatomy has been overwhelming. I knew -- knew -- it was all too good to be true. casting and vague shipping spoilers )

+ In brighter casting news, I heard that Adam Beach is going to become an SVU regular next season, which is awesome.

+ Wildfire's season finale was way more drama than I can handle, but HA. Pablo totally does like Jean. He loooves her. I KNEW IT. OMG, it freaks me out.

+ One of my issues with AI is that the judges are so lame, irrelevant, and would not know good contemporary music if it bit them in the ass. This is why they bitch and moan when they do not know the song. Also, I don't really care who you are, but you have no business producing rock albums if you cannot appreciate The Cure. WHAT. Their idea of a "rocker" is someone who sings Nickelback and Train and buys their clothing from Hot Topic. Their idea of a "rocker" is Chris Daughtry, who is endorsed and marketed by WALMART. What can I even say about that?

That said, Blake totally ripped off the sound and stylings of his cover from 311, and I KNOW he's heard it because he said they're his favorite band. Major cool points lost. I thought Gina, Melinda and Phil were the best by far. And if Sanjaya wants to pull off a fauxhawk, he can't stand there and sing like he's performing in a barber shop. Utterly bizarre.

TV
Threadless is having one of their $10 sales until March 12. Speaking of March 12th, the Thing that happens on that day is not happening. Savvy?

The CW has ordered a pilot about "crime-solving college students." Veronica Mars is so dead in the water, you guys.

Anyway. House. )

Wildfire has better continuity than GA and BSG and VM put together. )

Also, this is kind of funny. After submitting many, many questions over the past three years, Kristin of E! Online finally chose one of them for her spoiler chat. The funny thing is I submitted it three weeks ago, and by now I already know the answer myself. So I find myself simultaneously giggly and annoyed that I wasted a spoiler question.

Dear Steven Weber,

Get thee to another show. Get thee to another show immediately.

Wildfire )

I finished the new Pants book, and I enjoyed it. The series ended well. I have more to say about it, but it would require a spoiler cut, and I need to do a book post anyway. I also finished the new Princess Diaries book, and I want to know what everyone thinks about J.P.'s motivations. (Good, nefarious, or just typical boy stuff?)

(Wow, I get so rageful everytime I browse past my Smallville icon.)

The sheer volume of press and mania surrounding the iPhone is crazy. It's almost the inverse of the iPod's introduction. The iPod debuted to no fanfare whatsoever. The tech writers liked it, but it was only for Apple computers during a time when Apple had just barely managed to claw itself out of bankruptcy. And it was only a few weeks after September 11th, so they couldn't host the introduction in NYC, and most people couldn't/wouldn't fly out to Cupertino, California at that time. In contrast, the iPhone has been talked about exhaustively, and it debuted yesterday to a packed arena. Lots of people are already predicting that it will change the marketplace forever, etc. It's funny what a difference five years makes.

MacWorld Linkage!
+ Time got the exclusive interview with Jobs and Apple about the iPhone.
+ ATTN! If you have an Intel-core Mac computer (iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Pro), Mac has already built 802.11n wireless capability into your computer. Sneaky, but totally awesome.
+ TUAW has the shortest and sweetest demo of the new Apple TV. Pretty cool, although the Apple Remote seems a little small for using with a TV (try finding that in your couch cushions), and I'm still more comfortable buying hard copies of media than I am keeping them on a computer harddrive.
+ Toast may fix TiVo To Go for Mac. (YAY!)
+ Apple has the MacWorld Keynote available for streaming online. I always like the keynote, but this was the best ever. And not just because John Mayer performed! The whole thing is 2 hours long, but the iPhone intro starts out around the 26 minute mark. The iPod, Phone, and Web Apps demos begin at the 41:00, 49:00 and 1:01 marks, respectively. At 1:23, there's a demo of how easily it all works together.

Prison Break is back )

Big Love is essentially one big Veronica Mars reunion. Seriously! Mac and Lilly and Beaver are all on the show, and they all seem to be regular, reoccuring characters. That's uncanny. No way could it be a coincidence. Mac and Beaver are Mormony type religious characters, too. Well, Mac is. Beaver is either creepy religious or totally gay, seeing how spoiler ) (And I thought that TWW's Ronna was television's biggest cock-blocker.)

Question: Why, in TV-World, does everyone have to dry-swallow their illegal legal drugs? Especially Vicodin. Pills are meant to be taken with water - preferably an entire glass of water. But in TV-World, everyone's just popping 'em out and gulping them down. Why? Inquiring minds want to know.

Pablo on Wildfire is driving me crazy. Why does he have to perpetually scowl at everyone? For awhile, I thought he had a thing for Jean because he scowled at Charlie and Mr. Davis. But now I realize that he just scowls at everyone and everything. I am thinking he would not make such a good Ranger after all. Not that Ranger smiles a lot. But I am beginning to think that Greg Serano can't.

Stephanie Plum should be a TV show. It really really really should. It would be perfect.

Trojan Elephant?

I ♥ Mike Luckovich. This is the most fabulous editorial cartoon I have ever seen.

Omigod! This is the cutest picture ever of of Ron and Ginny. Ginny looks sort of like Boo from Monsters INC, actually.

I have watched so much TV this week. I forgot how much more TV piracy makes possible. I even caught up on Smallville. Man, that is a bad show. BAD. Conviction is on its way to sucking, but the Avatar premiere on friday was totally cute and awesome and much with the yay.

I bought a couple of Wildfire episodes off of iTunes, and so far it's pretty cute in a primetime, family-friendly, soapy sort of way. Except the rich dude is a total douche bag and I have a feeling it's going to be all about him and Kris soon, which is very disappointing. The guy who plays Pablo? Would make a pretty decent Ranger.

I hear that the leaflets the CW is sending out seem to indicate that Veronica Mars and Everwood will be picked up, which is yay. But they're also saying OTH will be picked up, which I have mixed feelings about since I think this season has blown like 5th season Dawson's Creek. But more importantly, having EW and OTH BOTH picked up makes me suspicious that it is all a lie, so I am not taking anything for granted until Rob Thomas says that VM has officially been renewed.

ETA: So I mentioned to Q yesterday how much I hated Sin City and then I was reading Time today and it turns out that Sin City's director, Robert Rodriguez, is a George Lucas prodigy. Heh heh heh. This amuses me greatly. But not as much as Time asking George Lucas how to save the Blockbuster amuses me.

ETA2: Oh, look. There's going to be a Fahrenheit 9/11 1/2.

ETA3: And the UK is getting their own version of Project Runway called Project Catwalk!

IMdB is so addictive.

I am thinking about watching some Wildfire. Is that any good? redrover1980 (whose journal I stalk in case she ever updates some of her older Sarkney stuff) is always talking about it like it's good.

ETA: DUDE! LJ is giving me 110 icons now? I'm only using 85 spaces now... only 85, heh.
